Rosary Garden

Rosary #23 • Sun, Jan 31, 2021

This rosary was an incredible project, a full (complete) rosary with natural hematite gemstone beads comprising 20 decades, 224 beads total! The 203 Hail Mary beads are metallic gray while the 21 Our Father beads are metallic blue. This is one of those where I had a crucifix and centerpiece picked out, but then I changed my mind at the last minute. The ones I picked just weren't clicking in my mind, so I shopped around a bit more and I found these on Amazon. The crucifix is blue enamel set on the St. Benedict medal. On the front is inscribed "SMQLIVB" which stands for "Sunt Mala Quae Libas, Ipse Venena Bibas" (Evil are the things thou proferrest, drink thou thy own poison) and "VRSNSMV" which stands for "Vade Retro Satana, Nonquam Suade Mihi Vana" (Begone Satan, do not suggest to me thy vanities). The back has the inscription "EIVS IN OBITV NRO PRAESENTIA MVNIAMVR" (May we, at our death, be fortified by His presence). The centerpiece is a blue enamel Miraculous Medal, which features the inscription "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee". The back features the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, among other symbols. Because of the weight of each bead and the number of beads, this is a heavy rosary. Most of my rosaries weigh a few ounces. This one is almost 10.7 ounces.
