Rosary Garden

Rosary #20 • Sat, Jan 2, 2021

I stumbled on these lapis lazuli beads from a vendor on Etsy. In researching the name, I found that "lapis" is Latin for stone and "lazuli" is derived from "azula", which itself comes from the Arabic word for blue. These Hail Mary beads are a deep blue color, each with a unique tone, pattern, and texture. The Our Father beads are the same white howlite beads I used in rosary #18. The fact that each bead is unique, with light gray marbling, makes them perfect for this rosary. The centerpiece is an image of Mary with the Latin inscription, "REGINA SINE LABE ORIGINALI CONCEPTA" (Queen conceived without original sin). The crucifix is somewhat unique for me, in that it has a hollow cut-out structure.
